Who am I?
I have always wanted to make a difference to people’s lives, and I am extremely excited to be running for MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark. I became politically active with the Labour Party in 2010, after the fall of the Blair/Brown government, but have since become disillusioned with Labour, with party politics, and with the political system.
Why am I doing this?
I believe that ordinary people have lost their voice. But you can easily get it back, and I’m here show you how. For too long, the people of Britain have been disengaged from politics. For over a decade, voter turnout has been at less than 60%. People are feeling increasingly disillusioned with the political process, and alienated from politicians. Party politics isn’t working – less than 1% of the UK population are members of a political party. Voting has become picking from the best of a bad bunch. But it doesn’t have to be this way
How does it work?
Technology can make us more democratic. We bank online, we shop online, why don’t we vote online? Vote for me, and I pledge to represent your views in parliament. Through a website, and eventually through an app, you will be able to vote on every piece of legislation passed, and I will represent the majority view in parliament. My role as an MP will be to inform, educate and discuss these issues with the people of Bermondsey and Old Southwark.
